Geography:
Takeo province is located in the southern part of the Kingdom of Cambodia, 78km from Phnom Penh.
- To the north it borders Kandal province;
- To the south it borders Vietnam;
- To the east it borders Kandal province, with part of it bordering Vietnam;
- To the west it borders the provinces of Kampot and Kompong Speu.
Geographical features:
The area to the west is mountainous, while in the east is a plain, which is flooded in the wet season and is very suitable soil for growing rice in [both] dry and wet seasons.
Weather and precipitation:
Takeo province is affected by a tropical climate and has two separate seasons – a dry and a wet season – which are of equal length. The annual [average] maximum temperature is 31.4ºC and its [average] minimum is 26ºC .
Takeo province, as with other cities/provinces throughout the country, is secure and socially stable. It has never experienced any natural disasters, making it conducive to investment and the construction of factories, enterprises, etc.
Based on the history of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the area is the first location where the main King or the country administrative structure was recorded. Actually, numerous ancient temples remain, some of which are even older than the temple of Angkor Wat. |
